Artist Ágnes Herczeg

 

Ágnes Herczeg is a fiber artist who uses traditional handicraft techniques to create miniature pillow lace and needle lace artworks. Born in Hungary, Ágnes lives and works in a small town along the river Danube. As a rural artist myself, also living alongside a river, I immediately felt connected to Ágnes and her depictions of women working the land and enjoying their natural surroundings.

Ágnes mainly uses natural threads of plant origin like linen, hemp, cotton, jute, and raphia. She spins and makes her own threads of different origins and thickness, applying several techniques to create her pieces. I’m just blown away by the detail, composition, and texture of her work.
