New York, New York

I'm back home in Dallas after a lovely two day trip to NYC.  My husband is working there this week and I stowed away in his luggage.  I was ready for a little break!  We had no concrete plans, just two open days to do with as we liked.  Our mornings started here in the lobby of our hotel room over the Times and a few cups of coffee.  Here's a quick shot of my husband in his natural habitat:

Saturday morning - off to the museum!

 

MoMA was the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning and early afternoon.  We didn't get to all of it, but who ever does?  But we were able to spend quite a bit of time with their current exhibition entitled Inventing Abstraction 1910-1925.  If you have a chance, go see it.

Saturday night was the perfect time for a Broadway show! The photo below is me waiting outside of TKTS in the freezing cold (hence the crazy red face) hoping to snag some theater tickets. We really wanted to see Once or The Other Place, but ended up seeing the revival of William Inge's Picnic at the Roundabout Theater. Maybe I'll do a little review later on... but for now, lets just say Save Your Money. Oye.

On Sunday, we had breakfast with a dear friend and then took a walk through Central Park.  Even in the dead of winter, Central Park is a wonder. I don't know who first said this but I love it: "Central Park is the lungs of New York City."

 

On Sunday I met with dear friends for dinner and cocktails.  After catching up, eating well, drinking far more than I should have - my friends and I solved the world's problems, redefined art and theater for the new era and teetered back to our homes, apartments and hotel rooms for some much needed rest.  Here are a few more shots of the view from our hotel room:

 

My husband is staying on in NYC for a few more days. He is in the process of watching auditions and conducting interviews, hoping to find good candidates for a graduate theater arts program. I'm so pleased we were able to get away on the front end of his business trip!
