“Do one thing at a time and do that one thing as if your life depended upon it.” — Eugene Grace
Card: One Task at a Time
Landscape: Cosmos/Interconnectedness
Title of Painting: Brimming With Is
Interpretation: Interpretation: Take a moment to think about all of the things you are doing right now. Does it make you feel anxious? Multitasking seems like a great way to get a lot done at once. But we are not nearly as good at handling multiple tasks as we like to think we are. The most powerful way to honor your time is to give your full and undivided attention to the task at hand. This kind of focused care and stewardship will transform your relationship to the work and deepen the joy you take in accomplishing your tasks. Attend to the details of your life with care and spaciousness. Today, put urgency on the shelf and adopt a more thoughtful approach to your daily rounds.
Deeper Resonance: The title of this piece is taken from Marie Howe’s incredible poem, “Singularity”. It speaks to the nature of potential, becoming, and evolution. Every living thing we can imagine, whether it be plankton, planet, or person, is brimming with the possibility of transformation. But the transformation can only happen one step at a time.
