“Step out of the history that is holding you back. Step into the new story you are willing to create.” —Oprah Winfrey
Card: Nurture a New Narrative
Landscape: Self/Immediate Environment
Title of Painting: Comfort
Interpretation: Have you been telling yourself the same old, tired story? Have you been caught in a circular understanding of the events of your life? This card is calling upon you to consider a new narrative. You don’t have to believe everything you think. The author Byron Katie shares this little nugget for those of us who are stuck in a destructive narrative, “I discovered that when I believed my thoughts I suffered, but when I didn’t believe them I didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is as simple as that.” Remember, your story does not dictate who you are. You are the one with power over your story.
Deeper Resonance: This piece is called comfort and depicts a woman cradling a small child. It is a meditation on maternal care and new beginnings.
