Card: Your Inner Child Knows

Title of Painting: The High Road

Landscape: Earth/Belonging

Interpretation: Before the world told you who you should be, there was an original you. For whatever reason, that original self has felt silenced or relegated to the shadows. It’s time to set aside your inner editor and go outside to play. The obstacles you are now facing ask that you cultivate the energy, wisdom, and curiosity of your original self. Your inner child has much to teach you about the necessity of creative play, the ecstasy of awe, and the healing power of your own imagination. Run through the sprinklers. Have tea with a cat. Talk to the trees. Delight yourself. Reach back, gather all that you remember, and pull it forward into the present moment. The poet Shel Silverstein writes, “Once I spoke the language of the flowers. How did it go? How did it go?” Now is the time to remember.

Deeper Resonance: This piece was created for a family of four in Dallas, TX. It is deeply connected to a feeling of lifted-ness, joy, and faith — and that any impossible feat can be surmounted when done with a sense of wonder, intention, and with fearless love.
