Card: Free Fall

Title of Painting: Strip Off the Shadows

Landscape: Self/Immediate Environment

Interpretation: It does not matter if you were pushed or if you jumped. You are in a state of free fall. The air is whipping around your body, your limbs are cast wide, and your mind is grappling with this new reality. The old ways no longer serve or comfort you. Worn out habits no longer protect you. There is no way to hide your desire now. Trust the winds and open yourself to the possibility of something greater. Use this wild and free moment of air-time to make friends with fear and embrace the thrill.

Deeper Resonance: The title of this piece is taken from a line in the song “Down to You” by Joni Mitchell. The woman depicted here is in an ecstatic state of free fall. Or is shy flying? Like Alice falling down the rabbit hole, the woman in this painting has succumbed to the reality of her vulnerable position and is allowing herself to enjoy the ride.
